August Plan with Me
Welcome to my first plan with me! I am so excited to finally be sharing with you the spreads I use on a monthly basis. I am always open to suggestions and hope that you will comment on your favorite monthly spread(s) below. Let’s get started:
While in quarantine, I discovered a few bullet journal YouTubers including AmandaRachLee and Caitlin’s Corner, and my themes and spreads for the past few months have definitely followed them very closely. However, I thought that since I was going to be starting a new bullet journal, it was time to turn a new leaf, take what I learned from their work and start creating my own themes and spreads.
This month, I was inspired by a page from my scrapbook paper book that I purchased at Hobby Lobby the summer before my sophomore year of high school (6 years ago!) for my project to create a scrapbook based on the summer reading for my honors English class. I completely forgot about this book until I found it while cleaning my basement. From the paper I chose, I was able to determine the colors for this month. The main color is green, specifically the Tombow #192, however, on my cover page I added reds, blues and yellows, similar to those on the paper and plan on using them as accent colors with the green.
Here are the spreads I included in August:
Monthly Log & Habit Tracker
This monthly log has been a staple for me in 2020 and I have not changed it since the beginning. The only difference is that I did not include the habit tracker on this spread in June and July and I definitely missed it. The monthly log is just where I put down things that happen in the day that do not recur on a regular basis (ex. One time meetings, performances, rehearsals that change on a weekly basis).
For the habit tracker, I noticed in May-July that I had too many habits that I was trying to track. I realized that I did not pick meaningful habits that I wanted to track every single day and I ended up giving up and not doing any habit tracking. In July, I had ten habits to track and a mood tracker and I gave up on the habits on day 8 and the mood tracker on day 20. I recommend finding 3-5 meaningful habits and sticking to those because more than 5 becomes a chore and will most likely not get filled out as the month goes on.
This month, being split between home and school, I opted to only track four habits: listening (includes audiobooks and podcasts), no spending, vitamins and blog (whenever I do something related to my blog). If you are interested in a post about habit trackers, let me know in the comments below.
Cover Page
As I said before, this theme was inspired by the scrapbook paper that I found. I decided to rip a piece off of the paper and paste it somewhere on the page, hoping inspiration would find me. When I pasted the paper at the bottom, it reminded me of being in the mountains and hiking, so that is the theme I was going for. (Not really sure if I will incorporate the mountains throughout the whole month, but we’ll see!) This was actually very simple to make and I was happy with how it turned out.
Brain Dump
The last page that I included this month is a brain dump page. This used to be a one page spread but I started the two page spread in June and I haven’t looked back since. The page on the left is where I write down that month’s tasks and on the right I will put post-it notes in for keys or notes that I might want to take out and put move around but needs a home for now.
Side note: The post-it note on the left is covering up a marker bleed through. With this notebook you definitely have to watch out that you are not pressing down too hard as the paper is on the thinner side.
This month was very minimal in comparison to the last couple of months. I really wanted a minimal setup as I finish my last few weeks of summer and head back to school at the end of the month. Let me know if there is anything you want to see in any future monthly spreads!
